Training Options

EVA Provides 3 Training Options: (Individual, Small Group, Open)

Individual: Coach + 1 Athlete

Individual sessions are for one-on-one coaching. Individual training is intensive and are intended to provide intensive training in specific areas for short periods and generally are for athletes who need are in need highly focus training. Typically, these are short term series of lessons to provide intensive training or for those athletes who want intensive training for athletes who want accelerated training that is exclusively focused on their individual development.

All training sessions are for athletes who are seeking training that is entirely focused on the individual athletes objectives and skills. All training and development involves personalized evaluation, and a determination of the athletes objects. Sessions are then tailored to address athletes individual needs and priorities. Training sessions involve instruction utilizing activities a wide variety of disciplines (pole vaulting, speed development, gymnastics, olympic weight lifting, pool vaulting, and activities from many other events in track and field. When necessary, individual development can include detailed instruction on the technical aspects of the pole vault in addition to detailed analysis and instruction all aspects of the athletes technique and highly detailed instruction focusing on the athletes goals and objectives. All technical development is filmed and reviewed with the athlete with the objective of the athlete gaining intuitions and an understanding of their specific issues, understanding of the athletes situation and an understanding of how certain will address the problems and what is required to make those improvements.

These sessions are most often used short term by athletes are stuck and who have are stuck and are having a difficult time identifying the source of problems and need help identifying the real cause of the problems that are holding them back and designing a plan towards meaningful improvement. With this information in hand and plan for improvement, athletes can move to small group sessions for an extended time where they will have the support and feedback to achieve their objects.

Improvement comes at an accelerated rates through the identification of each athletes technical breakdowns, activities targeted directly at correction and improvement and an detailed understanding of how the pole actually works and most importantly, a clear understanding of how their particular breakdowns impact their vault but a clear understanding of what they need to change, and how to make these changes. This combined approach of knowledge of the event and careful selection of activities will provide each vaulters with a clear understand of what they need to do to get to the level. This intensive approach leads to rapid development and technically superior pole vaulters. Removing the mystery of what is wrong and and how the event works empowers the vaulter giving them the knowledge and skills to develop superior technique allowing each vaulter to reach his theoretical potential limited only by their runway speed.

Pricing: Individual sessions are $120 per session or $100 per session if you schedule 4 or more sessions. Usually, 4 sessions is more than adequate for evaluation of athletes and the compilation of a comprehensive plan followed a period small group training and finally by large group training. As the athletes knowledge of the event increases the need for intensive training decreases as the athletes gain the knowledge of the event and understanding of what they need to do to achieve their immediate training objectives.

Small Group Sessions: Coach + 3 Athletes maximum.

Small group training is intensive training in groups of up to 4 vaulters maximum, although most small groups end up with two or three athletes. These sessions designed for athletes who want intensive training but have specific improvements in mind and want to train in an environment which provides the highest degree of coach athlete interaction and support to successfully accomplish specific training objectives or guidance in their training to maximize their rate of development. This approach produces an accelerated learning curve as each athletes progress in monitored and adapted to the needs of the individual athlete. It has been our experience that those athletes who elect to train using small groups improve at a significantly faster rate due to the fact that their training activities are continually adapted to the athletes individual progress. This approach ensures that athletes are continually exposed to training demands which place demands in line with each athletes level of fitness and ability.

The leading cause of injury in track and field is related to over-training and to activities which place demands on the athlete that the , a specific training plan will mitigate this risk. Activities are selected based on each athletes individual strength and fitness demands. This is a vital component to accelerate development in order to minimize injury by selecting activities which place appropriate demands on the athlete. A personalized, individual development plans often include elements of in one or more of the following areas including personalized strength, fitness, agility and running technique in addition to pole vaulting.

Pricing: Small Group sessions are $80 each or $500 for 9 sessions per month.

Open Training Sessions: Coach + 10 Athletes (typical)

This is a chance for the athletes who are looking for a training environment with feedback but are looking for training consistent with the training available at their club or school. These Open Training sessions provide feedback on pole vaulting technique and often where our long term athletes end up. These athletes typically have a clear understanding of their individual strengths and weaknesses and the pole vault event are interested in technical refinement and have an understanding of the event as it applies to their individual needs are largely able to assess their jumps and make corrections independently. Our goal is to develop the practical knowledge of the event to a level that they are able to accurately assess their own jumps and breakdowns and are in need of intensive training which is ultimately in the best interests of each athlete.

Pricing: Open Training is $40 per session.

Scheduling: Open Training sessions are currently held on Monday & Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 pm and on Saturday from 8:00am-10:00am. Club Calendar is under construction and will be updated with training times as of Nov 1st, 2022. See the Get in Touch page for additional details.
